Lovin' the love

Candice and Scott are an amazing couple that I had the absolute pleasure of meeting today.
They are so in love and I had such a wonderful time photographing them for their engagement shoot.  They met just 10 months ago, and will be married this May in Las Vegas. A true story of love at first sight, they were engaged only 4 HOURS of meeting each other! It is couple's like Candice and Scott that make me feel so happy to be a photographer.

I find that doing an engagement session with a couple is so important. It gives us all a chance to spend a few hours together. I get to learn so much about the couple I am photographing as we take photos. I can't wait to photograph their Ontario wedding reception this July!!

Beautiful couple, an inspiration to all of those romantics, like me:)

Love Candice's ring!

These two are so gorgeous.

I can totally see this as a gallery wrap, LOVE IT! You guys rocked this photo shoot!

The next time I see these two they will be married:) Candice and Scott, enjoy every second of your Las Vegas wedding. See you in July for your Ontario reception!

Oh the adorableness!!

Taking pictures of a one year old can be tricky. As a photographer it is my job to get the kind of shots that mom and dad want, and if this means singing songs, making faces, playing peek-a-boo and waving stuffed animals above my head I will do it. Luckily for me Owen is a smiley little guy and I only had to dance a bit for him. Getting him to stay still was a whole other matter, but who can blame him, he's one!! He did finally stay still for us once mom and dad set the cake down in front of him, lol. When that cake came out, that was it, Owen was in Cake Heaven and sat in one spot for almost 20 minutes continually filling his little cheeks with the yummy chocolate cake. This was my first cake smash session, and I can't wait to do more.

Oh the adorableness!!

We actually had to put him in my bath tub to get all the cake off him, lol!!

Owen's beautiful big sister had a little photo shoot of her own:)

Love this one!

Little munchkins:)

Today was an amazing day. To start the day my family all gathered at the Caledonia Arena to watch my four-year old skate in her first figure skating showcase. It was awesome! I am so proud of her:)
And then we had our wonderful friends out for the afternoon. Tom and Jenn have children the same age as mine, and we always have so much fun when we get together.
We wanted to try and get a few family shots, and some of the kids, which is really hard when working with a toddler!! Erik did a great job, even though he was distracted by Aubrey running around, lol!
And for some reason I could get Emma to sit still when I sang "Row, Row, Row Your Boat." A kid who LIKES my singing, unbelievable, hahaha!!

These children have the most amazing eyes.

She didn't stay still for long!

I know... we'll trap you in a basket so you can't go anywhere, hehehe!

So sweet.

And we managed to get one of all four of them, woohoo!

Thanks for coming to visit guys!

I love babies!!

I absolutely love brand new babies. There is just something incredible about their tiny little toes, fingers, lips... I could go on and on. This little miss did not disappoint! She has gorgeous lips, big dark eyes, and the most unbelievably tiny toes I have ever seen.
I am so grateful to her mommy and daddy for bringing her out to my house tonight in this horrible March weather. At almost two weeks old, Little Miss E. protested, but her parents were great at getting her to settle down (yay soothers, lol), and we managed to get some beautiful shots.

Mmmm... Love this.

I knew when I was setting this shot up that I was going to love it, definitely a new favourite!

Family photos {Cayuga photographer}

A few weeks ago Denise called me and asked if I could take photos of her family who were all getting together for her mom's birthday. When she told me how many of them there would be, I was excited because other than weddings, I have never done a family shoot with this many people.
I absolutely LOVE doing family photo shoots. I find it so cool to see how families interact, and I have never done a family shoot where I didn't have fun.
We had discussed locations and were set to shoot outdoors at a local church... but then the rain began, and didn't stop (I think it's still raining as I write this).
But luckily they were more than accommodating and Denise re-arranged her entire room for me. It turned out that the lighting in the room was great, and we accomplished what we set out to do!
There were so many photos to choose from, so I quickly picked a few that I love for a little sneak peak.
I hope you like them, and that you all had a wonderful time at Twisted Lemon for dinner!!

The whole family.
Cousins

Sisters, love this one!

Denise had a photo in her room of her and her siblings laying in a circle like this. It was taken when they were little, and I love that they were up for recreating it:)

Cravings

Because I love photography and I have this craving to try and learn all I can I decided this week that I would put a valiant effort into learning to use photoshop actions.
I have never used actions before, but after seeing Florabella Actions used at the Delicate Impressions workshop I attended a few weekends ago, I started to have one of my "I've got to learn to do that" cravings (these cravings upset my husband, they usually end up with me buying something crazy).
So I purchased the actions... all of them, and all of the textures as well (telling my husband that I NEEDED them ALL) ... and immediately got to work trying them out, mixing and matching different colours and textures and overlays, and I came up with this.
Here is the original...

And the after. I think this is pretty funky.

I had a lot of fun doing this, and it is really helping me to learn even more about layers in photoshop.
I'm going to keep playing and see what else I can come up with, but this time I'll write down each step (I totally don't even remember what I did to get this result, lol)

Cheers!
Katie

Adorable little man {newborn photographer}

Today I did my first newborn session since learning so many new techniques at the Delicate Impressions workshop.
LIttle Colby is 7 days old, and he was fantastic. His parents are definitely naturals, and they were able to get him to sleep so perfectly, leaving him like putty in my hands.
I loved this photo shoot, and probably even sweat off a few pounds in the process, lol (it was THAT HOT in here this morning, but that's what babies like).
Here is mister Colby. His lips are too cute:)
Seriously, his lips are awesome!

Cuddling with his beautiful mommy.

This was the very last photo we took. Colby was wide awake, and was easily kicking himself out of this position, strong little man!

Thanks so much guys, I'll be in touch soon:)

Lovely family {Hagersville family photographer}

I had the pleasure of taking family photos for an amazing family this weekend. The May family invited me into their home and I was so honoured that they did.
I had such a wonderful time capturing these photos, and I hope they did too!!
Here are a few of the indoor moments we captured.

Love black and white!!

Then we went outside to have a little fin in the snow:)
