Engagements... what should we wear?

Believe it or not, this snow is going to melt and leave behind green grass, buds on trees, tulips and warm sunshine. Words like renewal and rejuvenation come to mind when I think of spring. And I get super excited because it means wedding season has begun! And with it comes engagement sessions, one of my very favourite sessions to capture.
There isn't much I love more than a couple who is head over heels in love and ready to spend a few hours having me document that love.
A few brides have emailed me recently and asked if I had any suggestions of what to wear during an engagement shoot. I encourage people to wear clothes that are flattering, have clean lines and that show off your individual style and attitude.
And since I really am a girlie girl at heart and love shopping, I thought I would make a little blog posting to give couples a few ideas of some fun, flirty and romantic outfits for their e-session.
My goal as a photographer is to capture your love in still images. It's all about your passion and how you interact with each other. The clothes, locations and details are just the icing on the cake:)

This little black dress is a classic.
So is this sweet charcoal coloured dress. Both can be found at The Gap.

Pair either of these dresses with a sexy nude heel.

Add flirty jewellery, www.etsy.ca has awesome and unique finds.
A flower petal bracelet? Yes please!!

To go for a more casual and relaxed, yet still romantic look, this Chambray dress from Smart Set is perfect.

Or pair this floaty top with...

skinny jeans...

and floral gladiator sandals.

Adding a sweet scarf is a good idea.

If your style is even more casual, make sure you use layers to work with.

For the fellas, it does matter what you wear! You want to be able to look as good as your lady love!
Choosing outfit suggestions for the guys was actually really fun to do. I hope my hubby reads it and perhaps clues in to what he SHOULD be wearing, lol!!

Keep things causal, but dressy by adding a blazer such as this one from The Gap.

Put a collared shirt underneath,

And add a pair of dark denim jeans.

To be even more casual, a t-shirt and cardigan with jeans is perfect.

This light coloured sweater from RW&Co. would look amazing in photos!

This would look great too. Also from RW&Co.

And to get really casual this outfit is great,
and so is this. This one would be especially perfect if you love the outdoors and choose to head to the beach for your photo session.
And no outfit is complete without a pair of Converse shoes.

Newborn ~ Violet

Loved this sweet baby girl. So sweet and slept like a champ.

6 Months ~ Lexie

The craziest thing about this awesome gig as a photographer is that I get to catch up with old friends from high school and meet their children. It always seems so wild to me that we are all grown up and have started families. Wasn't it just last week that we graduated??? LOL!!
It was great to see Al and Kristin again, and get to meet their gorgeous baby girl Lexie.

Lovin' the baby blues!

This is one of my favourite ages to photograph.
Such a sweetheart!

I love this with mom and dad holding her hands:)

One Year ~ Amelia

What a precious, beautiful little girl. It was so much fun to do her one year photos.
Amelia's mom and I decided that to work around naps and traveling, that I would go to their house and use natural light for our session.
I loved this letter A that mom painted.

She did not want to get dirty... such a little lady:)
