Personal: Quiet morning

I woke up early this morning (after an entire night of tossing and turning thanks to the tiny soccer star in my tummy) and my children were still fast asleep. Aubrey was snuggled up right beside me, and Brant was still in a deep sleep in his room.
I made myself a cup of tea, and while I was waiting for the kettle to boil I took my first look outside.
With the sun hidden behind clouds and fog, and the landscape looking rather dull, there was still a beauty to it all.
I threw on my hubby's rain boots and grabbed my camera. I had only a minute or two before the kettle would boil and the whistle would wake the kids, but I grabbed a few quick shots just beyond my backyard.
We live on a very quiet little street, and behind us are these wonderful paths that we walk along.

I hope we get some more foggy mornings in the near future, and perhaps I'll talk Blake and the kids into getting up early one morning and going for a drive to see what the rest of our little town looks like under a veil of fog.
It would also be so romantic to do photos of a couple on a morning like this. Something to plan for the future;)

Cheers!

Amy+Ryan: E-Session

Love these two! I can't wait for their wedding in the spring.

Thank you Amy and Ryan for fun moments like this one that I was lucky enough to capture. It's one of my faves from the day.
One minute giggles, the next fierce, this girl rocks!

Personal

My hubby and I will be celebrating our 7 year wedding anniversary tomorrow. We did a little celebrating today by treating ourselves to a new lens.
I am fairly new to the photography game, and I haven't put too much money into glass yet. I shoot using three lenses, my favourite being the Canon 50mm f1.4. I love this lens and can pretty much shoot an entire day using only it. But I do find that sometimes my 50mm isn't versatile enough, and the current 18-55mm I've been using is not cutting it anymore. And the 70-200mm I have is usually being hogged by my husband (he calls it "his" lens).
I wanted an upgrade. So today we did it.
We bought a Canon 17-55mm f2.8. I've been tossing and turning over this purchase for some time because just like any camera purchase, it's never cheap.
But I really needed it, and my camera has already bonded:)

So when we got home from our afternoon out (just the two of us, props to my sister and her hubby for taking the kids to the Binbrook Fair for us) we thought it would be fun to do a little impromptu maternity session in our backyard.
Blake took this one, and I love the pretty light. He hates the boots:(
Happy anniversary honey!!

Cheers,

Sparking a memory

OMGoodness! It has been so long since I last blogged. So much has been happening and I've had to take a break, but I have come to realize that I just love blogging too much to hold back any longer.
It has been a year now since my first blog post, and what a great year it has been, with exception of the last few months of bed rest due to my pregnancy.

I am hoping to publish to my blog a lot more often in the next few months, and then start back up again full speed once my baby is born in December.

Here are a few photos of my kids from yesterday. I let them play outside, and I have to keep to a chair on the front lawn and not be on my feet for too long. I suppose I wasn't watching them overly well (bad mom!!) but it seriously only took a minute or two before I looked over and saw them "painting" with mud. This isn't the first time Aubrey has done this, but I was shocked that Brant got involved this time as well. He hates having his hands dirty, and even stops us through dinner some nights just to wipe his hands before he can continue eating!!

I did experience a moment of, "I have to stop them, they are going to be filthy!!", but then I decided a little mud never hurt anybody.

I love capturing pictures of my kids while they are experiencing moments that I hope will become memories for them. I know at their age that they won't remember all of the little events of each day, but I hope that by taking so many pictures of them, they'll be able to look back one day and these pictures will spark a memory.
This is why I love photography. I really want to be able to provide people with images that are meaningful and will spark a memory in the years to come.

Cheers!!
